Terms of use

These terms are WordShot's end-user licence agreement (EULA). By installing or using the app, you accept them.

2. What these terms cover

The WordShot app for iPhone and iPad, this website, and the services the app uses, such as the account, the AI and online play.

3. Minimum age

You must be at least 14 years old to use WordShot and to open an account. If you live in a country where the minimum age to consent to the processing of your data is higher, you must be that age.

WordShot's App Store rating is 4+, and that is about the content: the words are suitable for everyone. Both things are true at once, and the age in this section is the one needed to be able to accept this contract.

If you're a minor but you meet the minimum age, use the app with the permission of whoever is responsible for you.

4. Licence to use

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use WordShot on the devices you have associated with your Apple account, subject to Apple's App Store usage rules, which apply to this licence and which you'll find in Apple's Media Services terms of service.

You may not copy, decompile, resell, or rent out the app, or take its words, definitions or any other content to publish on your own account.

5. What WordShot is

A small deck of words every day. Each card is a word with its definition, an example, its etymology and the dictionary it comes from. Every day brings new words plus the ones due for review: words you've already seen come back later, and every so often a question asks which of three definitions is the right one.

You can also play with other people: turn-based one-on-one matches, a duel on a single phone, and ten-word challenges to send to anyone you like.

5.1. WordShot is not a health product

WordShot is a word game. It's not a health product, it does not promise to improve your memory or your health, and it makes no assessment of anyone. It brings you words with their dictionary source and asks you about them again; that's all.

5.2. The AI doesn't give dictionary sources

The app has a field for asking an AI about the word you have open, or for asking it for example sentences. The entries carry a dictionary source; what the AI writes doesn't, and it isn't stored anywhere. Check it before taking it as fact.

6. The account and your data

The account is optional and only with Sign in with Apple. It keeps your progress safe if you switch devices, and you need it to play online matches. Account data is stored with Supabase, in the eu-west-1 region (Ireland, EU). What's stored, where and why is explained in the privacy policy.

You can delete it whenever you like from inside the app, without writing to anyone: see delete your account.

You're responsible for keeping your Apple session secure. We may close an account that uses the service against these terms.

7. Your obligations when you play with someone

WordShot has no chat, no groups and no messages. The only thing another person sees of you is your visible name (2 to 16 characters). It can't be an insult, sexual, discriminatory, an impersonation of another person or a brand, or an advertisement for anything.

You can block and report any rival, and reports are reviewed within 24 hours. How to do it and what happens next is explained in the community guidelines.

8. The subscription

WordShot Premium unlocks six things:

• up to fifteen new words a day (five, ten or fifteen, your choice);
• all twelve families;
• the full archive;
• twenty AI uses a day, including when your device can't run it and the answer comes from the cloud;
• more than two matches open at once and more than three challenges a day;
• pausing your streak.

The rest of the app is free forever.

€1.99 a month, with a 3-day free trial. Charged to your Apple account when the trial ends, renews automatically every month unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the period, and can be managed and cancelled from your Apple account settings. The price and currency each person sees are the ones the App Store shows them.

There's no annual plan or any other package.

8.1. How to cancel

In your Apple account settings, under subscriptions. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you've already paid for. Deleting your WordShot account or deleting the app doesn't cancel the subscription.

8.2. Refunds

Apple charges the purchases and Apple issues the refunds, under its own terms. We can't refund any amount ourselves.

9. Right of withdrawal

If you subscribe from within the European Union, you have fourteen calendar days to withdraw. Since this is digital content made available immediately, you agree that performance starts right away, and that the right of withdrawal therefore lapses once it has started. This doesn't affect the three-day free trial or Apple's policy, since Apple manages the purchase.

10. Liability

WordShot is provided as is. We take care that every word carries its dictionary source and that each card is faithful to it, but the content of the dictionaries belongs to their authors, and we're not responsible for decisions someone makes based on a card, or for what the AI writes.

We're not responsible for service interruptions beyond our control, such as an issue at Apple or at our hosting provider.

Nothing in this section limits any liability that the law doesn't allow us to limit.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

Spanish law applies. If you're a consumer, you can bring a claim before the courts of your own domicile. Before that, if you like, write to us at hola@somiadigital.com and we'll try to sort it out.

12. Changes to these terms

If we change them, we'll change the date at the top. If the change affects the subscription or your obligations, we'll tell you inside the app before it takes effect.
